Laurence "Los" Ford

  General Notes:

Fought in WW1 with Ashley McCann. Both were in the Light Horse, and took part in the last cavalry charge at Beer Sheba, where 750 Light Horsemen charged and took Beer Sheba with the loss of 40 men. The wells at Beer Sheba in the Sinai desert then supplied water and saved the 16,000 Allied troups.
After Beer Sheba, Los and Ashley joined the RAF. Los was Ashley's batman, and Ashley flew as navigator to John Ross Smith who were awarded the DFC.
Los corresponded with his sister Nell who was a sewing mistress at school. Ashley read Nell's letters, and met and married Nell after WW2.

Laurence married Elsie Jane Boyd in 1919. (Elsie Jane Boyd was born on 22 Aug 1888 and died on 5 Nov 1956.)
