General Notes: Had difficulty giving birth to Murray who was 10lbs, and doctors advised her not to have any more children.

General Notes: After his mother Catherine died in 1907, his father John was unable to look after 7 year old Eion who was then brought up by Neil and Merran Graham in Lake Bolac.
Eion married Dolly in 1926, and moved to Melbourne where he became a Policeman nicknamed "Gus" by his colleagues at St Kilda and Prahran (after a Melbourne gangster!).
Between the birth of his daughters (June 1932, Gwenda 1935), he was posted to Casterton. Eion wanted to move to Casterton - probably with higher rank, responsibility and income, and better able to provide for his family during the Great Depression - however his wife Dolly wanted to stay in Melbourne, which caused dysharmony in their marriage.
In the 1946 Casterton floods, Eion led a daring rescue at Daley's farm at the junction of the Glenelg and Wannon Rivers:

This was reported as the most dramatic event of the flood, for which Eion was awarded the Royal Humane Society's silver medal - introduced in 1775 to award those who have put their own lives at risk to save the life of another, entailing extreme personal danger, a long and arduous rescue, and returning to a dangerous situation.
After compulsory retirement from the police force at age 55, Eion moved back to Melbourne with his family in the mid-1950's, and worked in the Government Lands Department.
